In The Four Elves and the Fairy, inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, the four brothers, Piccolo the spring elf, Solario the summer elf, Vento the autumn elf, and Freddo the winter elf, play a magical hurdy gurdy (music box) that changes the seasons. At the beginning of the story, Viva the forest fairy, who is worried at the late arrival of spring, is tricked by the evil tree frog Futura into stealing the hurdy gurdy from Freddo and giving it to her. Despite its playful tone and timeless setting, the story addresses contemporary themes such as human responsibility for climate change.
