Charles Stephen Kraszewski

Charles Stephen Kraszewski is a poet and translator active in both English and Polish. He has authored three collections of poetry in English: Diet of Nails, Beast, Chanameed; and two in Polish: Hallo Sztokholm, Skowycik; three satirical novels in English: Accomplices, You Ask?, At the Tone, Hic sunt leones; and a play in Polish, Ismena. A Polish citizen of Slovak ancestry, he studied at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and obtained his doctorate (1990) in Comparative Literature from Penn State, where his mentor was the Czech poet, Prof. Rio Preisner.  He translates from Slovak, Czech, and Polish into English, and from English and Spanish into Polish. As a translator, he is most fond of the classics.
