Eva Luka
Eva Luka (1965) is a poet, writer, translator, illustrator, and Japanologist. Born in Trnava, she studied English and Japanese at Comenius University in Bratislava, and later Japanese language and literature at Hokkaido University and Osaka University, receiving her doctorate there in 2002. She has published four collections of poetry, two works of children’s literature, and translated numerous works from English (Bob Dylan, Edgar Allan Poe) and Japanese (Banana Yoshimoto, Kōbō Abe) into Slovak. The numerous prizes she has received include the Rubato Award, the Krasko Award, the Literary Revue Award, the Haľamová Award, and the Golden Wave National Poetry Prize.
