Bellevue, originally published by Marenčin PT in 2010, was Ivana Dobrakovová’s second book. The novel offers an unflinching portrayal of gradual descent into mental illness as it follows the experience of a young Slovak woman in an international youth camp at a centre for disabled people near Marseille. The book was longlisted for the 2020 European Bank for Research and Development Literary Prize.
