Monika Kompaníková
Monika Kompaníková (1979) is a writer, lyricist, editor, and tireless promoter of literature and reading. She works as commissioning editor for the Denník N publishing house. Her short stories,
novels, and children’s books have won numerous awards and have been translated into fifteen languages. In 2011 she won the Anasoft Litera Prize for her novel Piata loď (Boat Number Five, 2010) and in 2017 the book was turned into the movie Little Harbour, which won the Crystal Bear Prize for Best Film at the 2017 Berlin Film Festival. In 2022 Boat Number Five was longlisted for the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize and was a finalist for the EBRD Literature Prize.
