Peter Milčák

Peter Milčák (1966) is a poet, publisher, translator, and literary organizer. After studying Slovak and English language and literature at Pavol Šafárik University in Prešov, he taught Slovak at secondary schools and at Prešov University, as well as at universities in Warsaw, Minsk and, currently,  Krakow. He is the author of four poetry collections and has contributed to several poetry anthologies.  In 1991 he founded the independent publishing house Modrý Peter, based in his hometown of Levoča, whose main focus is contemporary Slovak poetry as well as translations of poetry and prose from other languages, including his own translations of Canadian, American, and Polish poets.  Peter Milčák has received numerous awards for his publishing activities.  His most recent, bilingual collection, Podoby Milosti/Forms of Grace was published jointly by Modrý Peter and Fooliar Press in Toronto.
